Seismic Restraint Inspections
Seismic restraint inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is an often-overlooked component of new construction, tenant improvements, and retrofits.
These systems inspections seem to fall neither on the system designer, nor the structural engineer which can leave contractors scrambling to solve an inspection issue they may not have anticipated.
StrucTec’s team of professionals is here to help, take the pressure off and help keep your team on schedule.
Besides having all the necessary documentation and information, other things you can do to prepare for your inspection are:
- Have an appropriate way of accessing the inspection area (ladder, lift) if necessary.
- Do a brief test of the components yourself. If you push it, does it move in any direction?
- Check if the components are attached to the structure.
- For T-bar ceiling, ask yourself, if the T-bar fell, would the light or vent stay where it is?
Doing the above self checks can help to smooth the inspection process and help prevent return visits.
